Cherry Blossoms

"The National Cherry Blossom Festival annually commemorates the 1912 gift to the city of Washington of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to enhance the growing friendship between the United States and Japan and celebrate the continued close relationship between our two peoples." excerpt from

Today, my friend Sam was kind (and brave) enough to drive Wesley and I into the heart of DC for the Cherry Blossom festival. We did a little walking around the tidal basin, took a bunch of pictures and enjoyed the soft pink blooms. It was a little chilly today, so we didn't keep the Wesley out too long. And for the record, in the last picture (the one where he is holding some cherry blossoms) the bunch was found on the ground. We did not pick any of the blooms. Another "first" today for Wesley... those cherry blossoms are the first flowers he has ever held. He didn't even try to eat them!
