"School"

We discovered a new game last night. It is called "school." Wesley sits at his desk and Mommy "teaches" him from his "textbooks." So far he likes school. We'll see how his report card turns out.

Packing on the pounds

Wesley was a little guy from the beginning, only 6 pounds 8 ounces. Then he started losing weight, which is normal. But then he lost a little more than normal and even got as low as 5 lbs 12 oz. Thankfully, we were still in the hospital and had the wonderful support of a kind and knowledgeable lactation consultant, Kathleen S. I thought Wesley was nursing fine, but I had never nursed a baby before and we needed help. Kathleen came up with a careplan for us, which had a few components, including nursing the little guy, then pumping and then supplementing him with the milk I had pumped.
It was a lot of work in the beginning, as if having a new baby isn't hard enough! I knew I loved my husband, but his support after my delivery made me love this man so much more. He took such great care of me and the baby, even finger feeding Wesley his supplement. I stuck with breastfeeding and we've had our share of bumps in the road, but we've been on a course of smooth sailing for about the past 2 months.

I weighed Wesley last Thursday (3 and 1/2 months old) and he was 13 pounds 4 ounces! That is more than double his birth weight. Looks like our little guy is becoming a chunky monkey! That in itself is so bittersweet! I am so glad he is healthy and growing, but a little sad he isn't my tiny newborn anymore.

my new camera

I love taking pictures. I always have. Now that Wesley is here, I've been using my camera even more. But, I kept getting blurry baby hands and feet as the little guy was moving around so much. Look at his right hand in this pic I took for our Christmas cards.

I was getting so frustrated, but Greg got me an AWESOME new camera for Christmas and it takes such good pictures! Here is one of my latest that I adore...

My fondest memories

OK, so I'm new at this. Forgive me if this is boring. Mostly I want to set this up to document and archive some of my memories as they occur. This is where I start. I'm going to make some posts retro active, but this is the beginning, even if it is the middle of the story. But hey... you gotta start somewhere!

It is not how BIG you are...it is how BIG you play.

Wesley is 3 and a half months old now. He is starting to grip stuff more and his smile just warms my heart in a way I cannot describe. It is amazing how I can adore someone I've only just met.
