A Halloween Sneak Preview

I know, the first picture is way out of focus! But he is so stinking cute in his little shark costume. We took a few pictures under a time crunch, so I need to retake his halloween pics, but I just wanted to give a teaser... since the countdown to Halloween is on!

Erin's Birthday

Erin turned 30 this year and to properly celebrate, her awesome husband threw her a luau complete with Mai Tais, leis and a fabulous cake! It was a great party and both babies and adults had a blast! Wesley really enjoyed playing with the balloons and enjoying being spoiled by everyone. It is so nice to have friends who like to dote on him. I love watching people cuddle and play with him, and I think he enjoys all the new expressions and games they come up with. Fun!

Happy Birthday Erin! I've heard that your 30s truly are the best years of your life. I am so glad I have you as a friend to share our 30s together! Hopefully, we'll find out it is true what they say!

My Favorite Subject

My sleeping baby.

What could possibly be a more perfect subject for a photo?

He is so peaceful, still and quiet.

There is no rush when I'm taking his pictue while he is sleeping.

I am very proud of these 2 pictures not only because they showcase my beautiful son and his perfection, I love the lashes and the fullness of his lips. (What can I say, I'm his mom, I'm ALLOWED to gush over him!) But these 2 pictures are 100% mine. I set the white balance, I used manual mode, I even used manual focus! And I didn't photoshop a single thing. Here they are, straight out of the camera. Yea! I might just muster up the courage to post these on a photo website and ask for some professional critique. We'll see what the pros say!?!?

I just had to show the setting, he was asleep in his carseat. It also worked out nicely because I could use natural light and all I had to do to control the light was swing the door open a little wider if need be. But, it did start raining while I was taking pictures. I guess no setting is 100% perfect!

Tubes

Wesley had his follow up with the ENT today. Thankfully, he hasn't had an ear infection in the past month, but he still has fluid behind the Tympanic membrane. The decision has been made to have the tubes put in Wesley's ears to help the fluid drain. They did a hearing test again today and the results were the same as last month. I'm not too worried about the surgery, it is minimally invasive. I just want him to be able to hear normally as soon as possible. I want him to hear me when I whisper "I love you" in his ear. Until then, I'll whisper a little louder.

Wanted: Baby Wrangler

For my birthday, I got a new toy.
Greg was at the Ravens game today,
so I tried to get Wesley to pose for a few pictures by myself.

Unfortunately, Wesley did not want to play with my new toy all that much.

So, I used some of his toys to try to get him onto the backdrop.

I even used some of my toys.

This was my best shot.
I need a baby wrangler!

(and a gray card, I know!)

Up up and away! (and a wave!)

Crab Feast!

Today was the day of Greg's company's annual crab feast. Crab Feasts are a Maryland tradition, where you get steamed crabs seasoned with Old Bay and eat them outside on paper lined tables. The only utensils you have are a crab mallet and a knife. Picking crabs is truly an art form! Like a true Marylander, Wesley was introduced to his first crab mallet today. We can't hardly wait until Wesley is old enough for his first crab! In the meantime, we enjoyed the nice weather and yummy food. Wesley was such a good boy at the picnic, he didn't cry once and everyone commented on his calm temperment and good looks. We know we have an awesome baby, but it is nice get outside confirmation.

One of the best days ever!

How it started:
I nursed Wesley this morning at 4:45am and we both went back to sleep.
Greg kissed me goodbye around 6ish and I woke up at 11.
It was DIVINE!

Greg got Wesley up this morning and took him to daycare. Usually I like to travel for my birthday and I was a little bummed we didn't go anywhere, but man, it is really working out in my favor! I woke up all relaxed and refreshed!

Then I was off to the spa to redeem my Mother's Day gift. I had some pampering and returned home to my darling husband who was holding my smiling baby boy. Wesley had a card for me in his hands and he was so happy to see me! I was smitten!!!

If that weren't enough...
Earlier in the day, I recieved a phone call from my Grandfather, who sang 'Happy Birthday' to me, which was nice. But what was even better was, he told me he got a tattoo today and will be starting radiation on Monday!!! Now, for most people, this would sound like a big bummer of a phone call. My grandpa had a bit of melanoma in his sideburn this past spring. It was removed and we thought we were in the clear. In the past two weeks he had a doctor's appointment and another spot of skin cancer was found and removed. He had a body scan on Tuesday and the results of the body scan would determine the course of treatment.

If the cancer had spread, there would be no further treatment.

If there were no other spots, he would start radiation to attempt to prevent recurrance of the cancer.

I never would have thought I'd be happy to hear my grandfather needs radiation! But here I am, thankful we have this path to go down! So, wish us all luck!

I think this may be one of the best birthdays ever!

Through the front door

Wesley LOVES Peek-A-Boo! And he has found that doors can lend themselves as the perfect setting for peek a boo. Just a simple tug on the door and woosh, a whole new world on the other side! Of course, then you have the storm door and that can be fun to smoosh your face against. Your mommy might not like all those adorable cheek prints on the glass, so she just might take you outside. Then you can give her your signal that you want to be picked up again. But, she likes to take your picture, so she hands you a toy to keep you occupied for half a second. She snaps a few frames and back into our house we go!

Pushing the wagon

Wesley is so adorable pushing that little wagon! Of course, he really loves doing it for an audience! He will go over to the wagon, pull himself up to a standing position, look over at everyone, start walking and we all go nuts. He loves the cheering and the clapping. He just looks so proud of himself and he knows he is doing something really cool. Such fun!

Kristen's wedding

I just wanted to share a few pictures from Kristen and Jake's wedding. It was a beautiful evening for an elegant affair. We were so priviledged to be there! Of course, I had to practice my photography skills.
