Success!

I've been wanting to get Wesley in the studio for some time now. You know the old adage about the shoemaker's family having no shoes... sure I take a lot of pics, but Wesley was a little overdue for portraits. It took 3 adults and a bag of Reeces Pieces, but we achieved success! I adore the pics, then again it may just be the mommy goggles talking.

All dressed up and nowhere to go

We were supposed to go to a local pool with our neighbor Lindsay and her daughter Kira on Sunday. While Wesley napped, I got all our gear together and when he woke up I dressed him in his swim suit and even put his sunglasses on. He looked so cute as we were about to go out the door I took a few snaps. Then we got outside and the sky was gray, gray, gray. We talked to our neighbor and we decided it wasn't a good day for swimming. So we got all dressed up for nothing - well, at least I got some cute pics out of it!

Triple the luck

We have a patch of clover in the back yard. Well, we have several patches of clover, but one in particular yields an unusally high number of four leaf clovers. Lucky us!

Attempt

It's hard to take Wesley pics. Well, it's easy to take pics, but hard to get good Wesley pics. I haven't done a session with the boy in a while and I had all my studio lights set up, so I had a friend come over to Wesley wrangle a little bit and here are the few shots that turned out. You see, toddlers have a way of expressing extreme displeasure when asked/forced to do something they do not want to do. Sitting still on Mommy's backdrop wasn't very fun for long, even with a favorite ball.

Beautiful Day

There aren't many fields around here. This is actually the backside of a church located down the street from us. We were invited to attend a playgroup at the church playground and I brought my camera. I parked just behind where I was standing to take this photo. The sky was just so blue and the grass was a pretty green, I had to pop Wesley in the field for a photo op. Then we headed to the playground for some real fun!

Father's Day

I know I don't say it enough, but Greg is a wonderful husband and father. He takes great care of both Wesley and myself. He cooks for us, cares for our home, meets our needs, plays with us and loves us like no other. He has been nothing but supportive and kind and I am so lucky to have found him. I am proud of him and so happy he is Wesley's father. I hope Wesley grows up to be just like his daddy!
For Father's Day we went to Greg's parents house for a family BBQ. Wesley enjoyed exploring the house, deck and yard. Greg got to relax a little bit and we all had a nice time spent with family - the way holidays shoudl be celebrated.

Climbing in trees and playing in puddles

This is a day I'm going to remember for a long time. It started off with a game of chase in the driveway which gave us some great giggles. Unfortunately some of the photos were only "emotionally in focus," a phrase I am adoptiong for those pics I love, and can't delete, and I clearly have my mommy goggles on when I look at them.
After our game of chase, we wandered to our next door neighbors yard and Wesley climbed his first tree. You can just see how he looks like he has an idea, executes his plan and then looks at me to see if I'm watching. I love this kid!
As if we didn't have enough fun, our neighbor past that, Ms Catherine was out in her yard. We went over to talk with her and Wesley discovered a puddle. Since we were just playing the day away (and Mommy had her camera = Wesley gets to do "A LOT" in the name of photo ops!), I didn't mind too much when he decided to check out the puddle. He was sooo cute! He would walk through the puddle and even dance in it a little bit just to hear and watch the tiny splashes. It was adorable!
Then, I popped him onto Ms Catherine's bench for a pic with the flowers. Ummm yeah, he wasn't having any of that!

BBQ!

We got together with some of Greg's friends from high school, and their wives, and their BEAUTIFUL children. The babies were all smiles and coos and giggles, hardly a fuss was made. Then again, Kaitlyn, the oldest of the bunch is quite the baby whisperer, even prompting baby Natalie to fall asleep in her arms. MacKenzie was great fun and entertainment for Wesley, even making thunder for him on the playhouse roof. I don't think Jacob ever stopped smiling, especially when he showed off his new sitting skills. One of Wesley's highlights for the day was his first piece of watermelon, the first peice he could really sink his teeth into. And yes, he ate the whole thing!

A new spot

I have driven past this spot hundreds of times, but finally took the time to pull over and check it out. I had always thought it might be a good place to take a few pics and, to my surprise, it had the perfect little bench. Wesley was willing to sit still for a few moments, so I took advantage of the situation and got a few shots.

A couple from the lodge before heading home

I told you it was a quick trip! We spent the day of our departure at the pool and I don't have underwater housing for my camera (yet - lol!), so there aren't any pics from our time spent at the pool. The top pic is a chandelier in the beautiful lobby of the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the second one is a cluster of pretty blue flowers from the animal viewing area. It was very hot that day and the only animals in the viewing area were a few birds who did not cooperate for photos.
There were massive storms in Baltimore , so my plane ended up delayed a total of 6 hours. It was pretty annoying, but at least there was free internet in the airport and I had my laptop with me. The important part was I made it home safe and sound to my two sleeping boys. It may have only been a couple days, but I missed them something terrible! It's going to be a long while before I leave both of them again!

One day in the magic kingdom

We only spent one day at the Magic Kingdom, but it was jam packed with fun. We strolled down Main Street, rode rides and stopped for many photo ops. We watched the Spectromagic parade and Wishes fireworks show. Believe it or not, it was a relaxing day at the park. We did help shut down the park, even staying for the second showing of Spectromagic parade. It was a magical Disney day.

Disney Fix

I did something I haven't done in a long time, I traveled without my husband and without my son. I met up with a good friend at Disney for a couple days as a girlie trip. It was hard leaving my boys at home, but I had a great time. It was a quick 2 night trip, but filled with lots of good stuff. When we first arrived, we headed to Downtown Disney for some lunch at the new T Rex restaurant and shopping!

After lunch we went back to The Animal Kingdom Lodge, where we had a savanna view room, complete with all the usual Disney touches.

After all that walking around, we decided to treat ourselves to a pedicure at the Grand Floridian Spa. It was hands down the best pedicure I've ever had! I am very ticklish, but this was a gentle, soothing and relaxing foot treatment. I really enjoyed it!

I'm officially in Disney when I have dinner at the California Grill. It has become a tradition to go there on our first evening in Disney. I've been lucky to watch the fireworks from this location on more than one occasion. It is really a great view and they even pipe in the music from the park.

We didn't have reservations, but we were able to score a great table next to the windows, just look at that view of the sun setting over the Magic Kingdom! (excuse the gunk on the window - lol!)
