I wasn't quite sure Wesley was really old enough for the zoo just yet. We visited the zoo around Easter time and he seemed a little interested in the animals at the time, but not overly excited. That was a couple months ago and we were invited to go to the zoo with a couple playmates, so we decided to join everyone. We arrived soon after the zoo opened and we able to feed the giraffes. I wasn't too sure how Wesley would react, but he held out his little branch and the giraffe slurped it right up. One of the little girls we were with, Zoe, didn't want to feed them, so Wesley got to do it again. He must have remembered how to feed the animals from our trip to the petting zoo while we were in Rochester, I guess.
As far as animals go, the kids were interested in the exhibits, but the petting zoo was so much fun because it was interactive. They all brushed the goats and were all so kind to them. I guess we have some animal lovers on our hands! Then we got some lunch and rode the carousel. Wesley was fine, sitting so proudly on his cheetah, that is... until it started moving. Then he wanted off! Luckily a bench was located right behind us, so I took him off the cheetah and we sat as we rode. I should have known the ride operator was giving me a hint when he told me which animals do not go up and down. Why oh why didn't I listen to him?
But the big hit of the afternoon was the Banana ride. Kira was sweet enough to let Wesley ride with her and she even let him "drive" the little stick that decided whether their banana would go up and down. I think she would have liked to "drive", but she did a great job sharing! Thank you Kira!
